AviationGlass & Technology yesterday won a regional Dutch innovation prize ‘Innovatieprijs Valleiregio 2015’ for the development of lightweight glass for aircraft cabin interiors.
The company’s Head of Design & Engineering, Rinus Bos, received the award in the Schaffelaartheater in Barneveld. Jury member, Christiaan de Nooij, said, “This company is a great example of thinking out-of-the-box. It also has great value for the regional employment, especially in the aviation sector that isn’t big in our region.”
150 attendees were shown a company video that was shot inside the state-of-the-art production facility in Voorthuizen. The facility produces superior glass products of the highest quality for aircraft cabin interiors. The company’s patented AeroGlass portfolio creates the ultimate on-board experience by providing superior optical quality via crystal-clear (99.9% transparent) panels and mirrors. AeroGlass is lightweight and ultra-thin (up to 50% thinner and 25% lighter than traditional polycarbonate products) yet highly robust as well as scratch and UV-resistant.
